Yes — but not inside the box. The EPC-302B uses an external hot-swappable smart fan on the outside of the chassis, driven by CESIPC’s intelligent thermal control system; inside, the board area is cooled passively, with no impeller moving cabinet air across the electronics. The datasheet lists it under Thermal Management as “Hot-swappable fan with intelligent thermal control system”, and the page table row “Fan-less” refers to the internal cooling path, not to the box as a whole.

It means the fan is a serviceable module: when it reaches the end of its life it is replaced in the field without opening the enclosure and without returning the unit to the factory. For a machine that runs three shifts, that turns a fan failure from a production stoppage into a scheduled maintenance item. The intelligent thermal control also keeps the fan at low speed until the load and the cabinet temperature justify more, which is what extends its life in the first place.

Five 10/100/1000M Gigabit ports on Intel I210 controllers. Intel NICs matter here because the five ports are normally used as separate segments — teaming, VLAN tagging and jumbo frames behave predictably, and the driver support is the same one your IT team already qualifies. A Mini PCIe socket is left free for 4G LTE, Wi-Fi/Bluetooth or a fieldbus card.

Keep the networks apart without adding a switch. A typical five-port layout is: one port to the machine or PLC LAN, one to the plant/MES network, one dedicated to a vision camera subnet, one to the neighbouring cell or line controller, and one left for commissioning and maintenance. Each segment keeps its own address range and its own firewall rules, and no segment can see the others unless you route it. That is why the datasheet targets semiconductor equipment, machine vision inspection, AGVs, medical imaging and energy automation.

Per the EPC-302B datasheet: 3× RS232 on DB9, 2× USB 2.0 and 4× USB 3.0 — six Type-A ports in total — plus 1× HDMI, 3.5 mm TRRS audio and a Clear CMOS switch. Six USB ports is enough for a keyboard, a barcode scanner, a label printer and a licence dongle without an external hub.
