EPC-20XA Fanless Embedded Industrial PC with i-Door

The EPC-20XA is a fanless embedded industrial PC from CESIPC, built for control-cabinet installation where I/O has to stay field-expandable. Its 229 × 160 × 79 mm chassis runs Intel Celeron J1900/J6412 up to 12th Gen Core i3/i5/i7, with 12V DC input (9–36V DC wide-range optional), 3 serial ports (2× RS-232 + 1× RS-485), 6 USB ports, 2× Intel I210 Gigabit LAN with PTP time sync, and HDMI + VGA dual display. The extra 32.5 mm of height over the EPC-10XA houses an i-Door expansion bay that accepts pluggable CAN bus, 5-port LAN, isolated serial or 5G modules over a board-to-board interface. Passive cooling, a 60,000-hour MTBF and CE/FCC/BIS certification suit continuous operation in machine control and SCADA cabinets.

EPC-20XA is the platform name of CESIPC’s fanless embedded industrial PC with an i-Door expansion slot. The four model numbers below — EPC-206A, EPC-207A, EPC-209A and EPC-202A — are configuration groups built on the same chassis: identical enclosure, mounting, power input, serial ports and networking. Only the processor, memory, USB mix and integrated graphics change between them. The taller 79 mm chassis and the i-Door slot are what separate it from the EPC-10XA.

Choose Your Configuration

Enclosure, mounting, power input, serial ports, networking and expansion are identical across all four groups — so the choice comes down to three things: how much compute you need, how much memory and storage you need, and how many USB 2.0 ports your peripherals require.

FAQ

Common questions about the EPC-20XA fanless embedded industrial PC — i-Door expansion, configuration groups, I/O, power, mounting and applications.

1. What is the EPC-20XA industrial PC?

The EPC-20XA is a fanless embedded industrial PC from CESIPC, designed to be mounted inside control cabinets. It measures 229 × 160 × 79 mm and runs Intel Celeron J1900/J6412 up to 12th Gen Core i3/i5/i7. It is a headless compute node: the control software runs inside the cabinet, while the operator display is provided by a separate panel PC or monitor over HDMI or VGA.

2. How does the EPC-20XA differ from the EPC-10XA?

Both share the same 229 × 160 mm footprint, but the EPC-20XA is 79 mm tall instead of 47 mm. The extra internal volume houses an i-Door expansion bay and a larger heatsink. That makes the EPC-20XA the choice when I/O has to stay field-expandable — CAN bus, 5-port LAN, isolated serial or 5G modules plug into the i-Door slot — or when a higher-TDP processor runs under sustained load.

3. What is the difference between the EPC-20XA and the EPC-206A, EPC-207A, EPC-209A and EPC-202A?

EPC-20XA is the platform name for the whole series. The four model numbers identify configuration groups built on the same chassis: EPC-206A (Celeron J1900), EPC-207A (Celeron J6412), EPC-209A (10th Gen Core i3/i5/i7) and EPC-202A (12th Gen Core i3/i5/i7). Enclosure, mounting, power input, serial ports, networking and the i-Door slot are identical across all four groups.

4. What processor options are available in the EPC-20XA fanless embedded industrial PC?

Eight configurations across four families: Celeron J1900 and J6412; 10th Gen Core i3-10110U, i5-10210U and i7-10510U; and 12th Gen Core i3-1215U, i5-1235U and i7-1250U. Celeron configurations suit gateways and data acquisition, 10th Gen Core suits general machine control, and 12th Gen Core adds Iris Xe graphics for vision and edge AI workloads.

5. Is the EPC-20XA a fanless industrial PC?

Yes — every configuration is passively cooled, with no fan and no moving parts. The 6063 aluminium chassis acts as the heatsink, and the taller enclosure provides more heatsink area than the EPC-10XA for higher-TDP processors under sustained load. There is no dust intake and no fan to replace during service.

6. What I/O ports and expansion slots does the EPC-20XA industrial box PC provide?

Every configuration provides 3 DB9 serial ports (2× RS-232 + 1× RS-485), 2× Intel I210 Gigabit Ethernet with PTP time sync, HDMI plus VGA for dual displays, and audio out plus mic in. USB allocation differs by group: 5× USB 2.0 + 1× USB 3.0 on the EPC-206A, 4× USB 2.0 + 2× USB 3.0 on the EPC-207A, and 2× USB 2.0 + 4× USB 3.0 on the EPC-209A and EPC-202A. Internally there is an M.2 or mSATA storage slot (two M.2 slots on the EPC-202A), an M.2 2230 slot for a Wi-Fi/Bluetooth module, and one Mini PCIe socket for 4G, 5G or GPIO modules. The i-Door slot accepts pluggable CAN bus, 5-port LAN, isolated serial or 5G modules.

7. What power input and operating temperature does the EPC-20XA industrial PC support?

The standard configuration takes 12V DC through a 3-pin pluggable terminal block, with 9–36V DC wide-range input available as an option — it accepts 24V industrial and railway power rails directly. Operating temperature is 0 to 50 °C as standard, with an optional extended grade of −40 to 70 °C for cold storage and outdoor cabinets.

8. What are the dimensions and mounting options of the EPC-20XA embedded industrial PC?

The chassis measures 229 (W) × 160 (D) × 79 (H) mm and weighs 1.8 kg. It supports wall mounting and VESA mounting. Because it is headless, the unit can be placed wherever cabinet space allows and connected to a remote display or operator panel over HDMI or VGA.

9. What applications is a fanless embedded industrial PC like the EPC-20XA used for?

It is designed as the control-side computer inside a control cabinet: CNC motion control, machine and process control, protocol conversion and PLC gateways, SCADA data acquisition, and machine vision pre-processing. The i-Door slot suits cells where the required fieldbus or radio changes between machine variants, so one qualified base unit can serve several I/O maps.

10. What is BlockCore™ and how does it benefit the EPC-20XA?

BlockCore™ is CESIPC’s modular architecture — i-Core Board, i-Function Board and i-Connect Board. On the EPC-20XA the chassis, mounting, power input and I/O layout stay the same across every processor tier, so a Celeron unit can be upgraded to a 12th Gen Core board without changing the enclosure. Function modules such as CAN, 5-port LAN, isolated serial, 5G or GPIO are added through the i-Door slot instead of replacing the base unit.
